Just because you’re on vacation (or just enjoying summer festivities) doesn’t mean you should turn into a complete blob. Saying active is the best way to keep your weight in check even though you’re splurging more than usual.

If you’re like I am, you spend a lot of time sitting in a beach chair on vacation, so it’s nice to start the day with some movement to get the blood pumping.

On my recent beach trip, I got a bunch of my family together to do a beach bootcamp workout. It was SO MUCH FUN laughing and sweating together!

Since we had a good-sized group I broke us up into two teams (Team A and Team B). These exercises can be done with partners or one at a time if it’s just you.

Here’s how it works:

Warm up with a 5-minute walk

Break off into two teams. You can also do this with just one partner or by yourself.

Mark off about 5-10 yards or 15-30 paces, depending on your level of fitness, with a line in the sand or a marker of some sort.

Team A does the first exercise down to the marked line and back while Team B is doing the second exercise in place. Once Team A is back to the starting line, Team B can stop.

Then each team switches exercises and repeats the same process. Most of the rounds are done twice through but one was extra tough to it’s only done once (I’ll explain in the video).

Watch the video to see how each exercise done:

Every exercise can be done with a low-impact version, stepping instead of jumping. So no excuses!!

If the bootcamp is too much for you, you can always take long walks or go for bike rides. The point is to move your body. Trust me, your body and your waistline will thank you.
