I’m so excited to introduce a special guest today. Her name is Lisa Mullins, and Lisa is in education. She’s a teacher and is a very hardworking woman. Not only that, she takes care of her middle school-age grandson. So she is a busy woman, and she is absolutely killing it. I wanted you guys to hear her story because it’s so inspirational. I love it when you guys can hear what other women have gone through because I know a lot of you can identify with some of their situations and the mindset things they’re dealing with. And I want you to know how possible it is. Not only possible, but it absolutely can happen for you to come out on the other side.

Lisa has been teaching for around 28 years and has taught all sorts of grades and also adults. She is 61 years old, and as she grew older, maintaining her body was harder and harder, but now she’s doing really well. She had cancer in 1996 and also eating disorders all through her life.

She spent years trying to control her body weight through all sorts of different things. Including eating disorders, but also through over-exercising, compulsively logging food, and counting calories. Going from one extreme to the other.

She finally saw that it was more than the food and the exercise. It was actually the way that she was living and thinking that was hindering her. And as she started to overcome things like self-esteem and negative thinking, she started to see more progress. Again, it starts with just tiny steps.

What’s in your tool set?

A good tool set to have is journaling, meditating, and self-reflection. Having those is essential to making a situation permanent. Because when you don’t feel good, you’re not going to s you’re not going to be healthy. We think if we punish and push, that’s going to keep us on track, but really that’s what takes you from one extreme to the other and keeps you in that cycle. Our body isn’t what makes us worthy.

Taking the time to slow down and realizing everything that you’re grateful for, journaling, and taking time for yourself. Self-Care is where it all starts. You have to learn that you are amazing and wonderful, and perfectly imperfect.

That’s when the positive changes start happening.
